芙蓉花象徵財富、吉祥與純潔，而雞與「吉」諧音，被視為是吉祥之禽，兩者常被文人當作繪畫的題材。而雞的顏色與芙蓉花相互應，觀者第一眼觀賞畫作時，芙蓉花會先映入眼簾，接著仔細欣賞時，會發現左邊兩隻對視的小雞，讓人頗有驚喜之感，希望帶給觀者觀賞的樂趣外，也有祝福大家平安喜樂之意。
Hibiscus flowers symbolize wealth, auspiciousness, and purity. “Chicken” sound like “auspicious” in Chinese, so it is regarded as a lucky bird. Both are often used as painting subjects by artists. The chicks’ colors match those of the flowers. When viewers see the painting, the hibiscus flowers come into view first. When they take a closer look, they will find the two chicks face to face on the left quite amazing. It is hoped that the work will bring peace and joy to viewers.
