本作品參照台灣前輩畫家郭柏川 1953 年的經典名作〈淡水觀音山〉,擷取其的圖像局部,並在畫布上進行「重複排列」與「橫移拼貼」。藝術家謝牧岐透過這種反覆與挪用的繪畫路徑,深刻探討台灣當代繪畫中,圖像所承載的「台灣性」究竟呈現何種樣貌;同時,他也藉此思索當代藝術家該如何承接並重新回看這座曾被無數前輩畫家反覆描繪、象徵本土主體性的觀音山。
Referencing the 1953 masterpiece Tamsui and Guanyin Mountain by pioneer Taiwanese painter Kuo Po-chuan, this work isolates the motif of "the peak of Guanyin Mountain," reconfiguring it through "repetitive alignment" and "lateral collage" on canvas. Through this creative path of repetition and appropriation, Hsieh Mu-chi explores the nuances of "Taiwaneseness" embedded within contemporary imagery. He further contemplates how today's artists can inherit and re-examine Guanyin Mountain — a landmark woven with local subjectivity and endlessly captured by preceding generations.
